Recently I watched a Ted Talk about play and how it is important to a child’s development. I never realized how much going outside, playing and exploring impacted a child’s life. I was, personally, lucky enough to have parents that always supported my interest in exploring and interacting with other people. I also was very fortunate to have many neighbors that were around my age and a safe environment to go out and explore. Many of my neighborhood friends are some of the people I am closest to today. By allowing me to go out and meet new people and explore the world around me, my parents helped me to develop interaction skills and learn from my own mistakes.
